AWS Community Day CZ 2025 - Prague

The first AWS Community Day in Czechia took place in Prague, bringing together cloud builders, leaders, and enthusiasts from across the region - and it had that unmistakable feeling of a community that has been growing for years and was finally ready to celebrate itself.

For me, this event marked another stop on our OTTO talk journey - and the first big reunion after the summer break. It was warm, familiar, and full of those unexpected “Oh, I didn’t know you were here!” hallway moments that only happen when multiple tech worlds overlap in the same city.

Our Talk: OTTO - With a Twist

We brought back our talk on OTTO, the Slack-integrated AI assistant we built for the AWS User Group Vienna, trained with InstructLab and deployed on Amazon Bedrock.

But this time, we added live juggling on stage - to explain how multi-agent systems coordinate work. Each ball represented a task hand-off: retrieval, reasoning, decision, output. It made the architecture visible, kinetic, and surprisingly fun to watch. The moment when people got it was very clear - heads tilted, eyes widened, and people smiled. Exactly what we hoped for.

The Atmosphere in Prague

The location was great, the weather was warm, and the conversations naturally flowed. Since another tech conference was happening in Prague at the same time, the city felt full of people from different corners of the cloud ecosystem. We ended up reconnecting with old colleagues by coincidence - the best kind.

A Special Moment: Jeff Barr in the Room

Having Jeff Barr there for the keynote made the day feel meaningful on a broader level - not because of “big-name energy,” but because of what it symbolized:

The global AWS community supports and believes in what local communities create.

And Prague created something truly warm, welcoming, and memorable.

What I’m Taking With Me

  • Communities grow through rhythm - and reunion matters.
  • Talks evolve when shared - OTTO keeps changing because of feedback.
  • Technology is easier to understand when made playful.

Prague reminded me that community isn’t built by events. It’s built by people showing up for each other.

Thank you to the organizers, volunteers, speakers, sponsors, hallway-chatters, and everyone who stayed for one more conversation. I’m really glad I got to be part of this first edition.
