AWS Community Day Romania 2025 - Timișoara
Timișoara was the next stop on our OTTO tour - and it brought a different kind of energy. It was a mix of new faces, familiar friends, and a city that feels warm and open the moment you arrive.
This was AWS Community Day Romania in its 2025 edition, hosted in Timișoara - a stunning city with history, color, and a calm atmosphere that immediately makes you slow down and breathe a little deeper.
The Venue & Atmosphere
The venue was impressive - a large stage with character, design details that made the space feel crafted rather than generic, and great acoustics that made every talk feel focused and intentional.
One interesting detail: the event started at noon. At first, it felt unusual - conferences typically start early in the morning - but it changed the rhythm of the day in a good way. People arrived awake, relaxed, and ready to participate. It made everything slower, warmer, and more conversational.
The Talk: OTTO
We presented the OTTO talk - the story of building a Slack-integrated AI assistant for AWS User Group Vienna, trained using InstructLab and deployed on Amazon Bedrock.
By this point, the talk had evolved through multiple Community Days - Slovakia, Italy, the Czech Republic, Poland - and each time, new questions shaped new refinements.
In Timișoara, the conversations were very hands-on:
- How to structure volunteer-driven automation
- How to keep community organizing sustainable
- How to use AI to support - not replace - human effort
It felt like a continuation - the tour growing through people.
The Speaker Dinner
The night before the event, we gathered for a speaker dinner in a cozy restaurant - wood tables, warm lighting, small plates being shared, and conversations that had nothing to do with slides or architecture diagrams.
That’s the part that always stays with me: the human side of technology communities.
Community Details That Made Me Smile
- The organizers knew everyone by name.
- People stayed after talks to keep discussing.
- There was no rush - just presence.
- And yes - the t-shirts were the best of the entire tour.
It sounds small, but good t-shirts are a sign: someone cared about the details.
A Community With Its Own Character
AWS Community Day Romania didn’t try to be louder or bigger than other events - it was thoughtful, warm, and real. The kind of event where you leave feeling connected - not just informed.
I’m grateful I got to be there - and I’ll happily return.
